Everything you’d need to know about what’s happening here in Panama City Beach and Bay County. I attend the bi-weekly Panama City Beach City Council meeting…so you don’t have to!

Construction Begins on New PCB Hospital & Campus

A groundbreaking ceremony was held in end-January for the FSU Health-Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Medical Campus in Panama City Beach. The project between Florida State University and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital will be built on an 87-acre parcel near the intersection of State Highway 79 and Philip Griffitts Sr. Parkway. It is located close to the Latitude Margaritaville Watersound community, a residential development built by The St. Joe Company for residents 55 years and older, which just completed its 1,000th home.

The campus will feature an 80,000-square-foot medical office building with specialty practices and a 100-bed hospital where FSU medical students can train and be overseen by Tallahassee Memorial Hospital physicians. It will also include TMH Physician Partners - Primary Care, Tallahassee Memorial Urgent Care Center, an ambulatory surgery center and cardiology and orthopedic services. The entire project is slated to be completed by 2027.

Front Beach Rd CRA 32% Complete

The roundabout for westbound and eastbound traffic along the "Y" intersection at Front Beach is now fully functional. It is part of the improvements made under Segment 3 of the Front Beach Road Community Redevelopment Area (CRA). Construction started on Segment 3 in early 2021 and runs from the intersection of State Road 79 (Arnold Road) and Panama City Beach Parkway and includes Front Beach Road east to Lullwater Drive. Northbound and southbound traffic on Highway 79 or Arnold Road will have to use the east half of the old "Y" to access Front Beach Road. This traffic shift represents another milestone toward the completion of the Front Beach Road Segment 3 CRA Project which includes the roundabout, new traffic and turning lanes, landscaped medians, transit/bicycle lanes, sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, utility under grounding, signalization, stormwater retention, signage and pavement markings. Construction is projected to wrap up in December 2023.

Alf Coleman Improvement Project Update

Construction on Alf Coleman Road will begin in the first quarter of 2023. The upgrades are part of Panama City Beach's CRA project and will see big improvements for the over half a mile stretch. The road will be raised 14 inches from its current elevation and will be better lit and more walkable with continuous sideways on both sides of the corridor. Bids for the project will go out on March 23rd.

Segment 4.1 Update

The Front Beach Road CRA Segment 4.1 is expected to transition from design to construction in May or June 2023. This area includes the section of Front Beach Road from Lullwater Drive, where Segment 3 ends, to Hills Road and includes Powell Adams Road. More than $14.309 million has been budgeted for this project.
